I’m back from my SHEcation. Did you miss me?
A SHEcation means me traveling on vacation alone (all one). But you know this already, because you read my last blog post.
I started this annual practice about 3 years ago and since then it has evolved into something great and now EPIC.
Friends, let me tell you. I couldn’t have picked a better destination to travel to. This SHEcation was magical. I traveled to one of my favorite resort and spas. Normally I plan out my itinerary prior to going, but this trip I just didn’t feel like it. Every time I tried to plan, something would deter me. So, once I arrived, I started scheduling classes and sessions to attend. My selection included an equine therapy class, cooking classes specifically making homemade pasta and cashew milk, chicken keeping class (yes, that meant visiting a chicken coop to learn about their life cycle), photography classes, and more.
I was there to relax and celebrate my birthday. Alone. But guess what? Nearly everyone at the resort knew it was my birthday. I was inundated with birthday wishes, gifts, and lots of love. I felt special. And this joy came from people I’ve never met. The waiters, waitresses, and those in my cooking classes serenaded me with song and fixed dessert plates with Happy Birthday.
I was nicknamed “Miss Congeniality” by a group of 20 amazing women who traveled together. I felt special, loved, and acknowledged—by complete strangers.
I would encourage you to find the courage to travel alone and dare to discover the person you really are when no one else is around. I sincerely had one of the best times of my life.
Cheers to new adventures.
Enjoy some of my highlights.
